Corporate paper waste is soaked in sea water to conserve our clean drinking water sources. This mixture is then blended with natural tree glue, flour, and essential oils to form a dough, which is shaped accordingly. After a two-day drying period, our designs are sanded to a smooth finish and beautifully colored with non-toxic paint and varnish.

The Old Newspaper & The Sea
This is the story of an old, discarded newspaper that ends up in the trash bin of an Istanbul-based design studio, encounters the purified salty waters of the Bosphorus, natural resins and essential oils of indigenous plants, and sets sail for a brand new life... This may sound like a Hemingway novel, but it’s our reality!
We value our planet and only use upcycled, non-toxic and plant-based mediums in every phase of our papier-mâché collection. Our paper dough formula, which has evolved over time, consists of upcycled newspapers and corporate companies’ wastes papers, natural acacia resin, dated flour and essential oils. We use sea water to avoid depleting our natural drinking water resources. Whether it is our commitment to sustainability, or support for local artisans, respect remains at the heart of our practice.
